Creating an Immersive Family-Friendly Garden Across Two London Centres

Client Overview

Transforming Retail Space into Playful Escapes

Westfield Europe Ltd is a major retail destination with two flagship shopping centres in London. Known for their experiential approach to customer engagement, they approached EPH Creative with a vision for a giantโ€™s garden-themed summer activation designed to attract families and elevate footfall during the school holidays.

The Brief

Creative Collaboration with Big Demands

Westfield needed support in both the designing and producing of bespoke props and with hiring select items from our existing collection. The brief required:

  • Fire-resistant, durable, public-friendly props
  • Creative collaboration with another set and stage company
  • A seamless multi-site setup, with the activation moving from one centre to another
  • Integration with existing games and large-scale structures (like Zorb pools)
  • Visually impactful, highly interactive photo opportunities

All of this had to be delivered under tight timelines, with safety and logistics top of mind.

Our Approach

From Concept to Creation

Westfield provided initial design concepts, which we adapted for practical production, rental stock integration, and material compliance. Our team provided a complete solution:

  • Design and development consultation
  • Material testing for flame retardancy and public durability
  • Collaborative coordination with other vendors
  • Site visits, project management, and a 3-night install at each centre
  • Ongoing support and future-proof design for rental use

The Experience

A Giant Garden Brought to Life

The result was a whimsical, oversized garden environment perfect for summer exploration:

  • Giant foam grass blades to run through and hide behind
  • A rigged watering can, โ€œpouringโ€ over guests in a giant flowerpot
  • Oversized trowels, vibrant flowers, and colourful, playful props
  • A visual experience that tied in seamlessly with Westfieldโ€™s wider activation plans

Despite the projectโ€™s complexity, we turned around the entire activation in just 8 weeks, with only 3 weeks for production.

The Outcome

Engagement, Impact, and Sustainability

The activation was a huge hit with families and visitors, offering an interactive, playful environment designed for sharing and memory-making.

Feedback highlighted:

  • Exceptional build quality and project delivery
  • Positive guest engagement and footfall uplift
  • Huge appreciation for the sustainability focus – all bespoke builds are now part of our rental stock, reducing waste and cost for future clients

We also used the opportunity to develop new, more compact versions of our giant flowers, now part of our standard range, perfect for future events.
