PAINTERS & PAINTINGS 22nd BIRTHDAY PARTY for an art loving family!

At the beginning of the year Kitty’s mother sent me an image of The Rausing Room at The National Gallery, taken when on a family visit, with the caption ‘Tent goals……’!!! The challenge was set for me to create their own ‘Gallery’ for two consecutive evenings of parties! On the Friday, a lovely ‘Last of the Summer Rosé’ drinks party for the adults, and on the Saturday a FABULOUS 22nd birthday party, shared with her brother William celebrating his 24th!

It was the perfect opportunity to hire a clear roofed marquee! The walls were lined in a wine coloured crushed velvet with some ceiling swags too. I covered the bar in black velvet draped with crushed gold velvet, and hired in a range of velvet sofas and gold occasional tables and stools, not forgetting the transformative naked male and female statues which I enhanced with uplighters!

Kitty, William, friends & family sure know how to party - taking the guests on an epic journey from ‘sedate’ drinks and nibbles, to full-on crowd surfing! The party continued until the early hours and guests who were camping in an adjacent field were revived in the morning by a coffee van serving naughty pastries too!

Whether guests were dressed as Queen Victoria, Pigcasso, the Girl with the Pearl Earring, The Son of Man or a decorator in white splattered dungarees, EVERYONE went crazy on the dancefloor, fuelled by paella and Moscow Mules!

Welcome to The Lost Forest at homehouselondon an atypical Halloween party with pumpkins and cobwebs respectfully shunned.

This otherworldly theme gave us endless room (and rooms!) to explore. We’re fortunate to have worked with Home House on many productions and, as always, with each party we want to up the ante, bringing members a fresh new take on their familiar surroundings.

With that in mind, we made sure that every room in the House felt overgrown as though nature had been slowly reclaiming it. At heart of the building, the Grand Staircase became a shrine of the dead, adorned (naturally) with a sacrificial boar’s head, the Bison Bar transformed into a witchy bayou complete with a reclining weeping willow, furnished with pagan totems and hand-made talismans.

And hidden in plain sight amongst the greenery and foliage was an ambitious cast of performers including dark fae and faun characters, a 9-piece brass band dressed in ghillie suits, actual birds of prey and, of course, a 9ft troll guarding the venue’s entrance.
