Job Description

EPH Creative is the UK’s leading partner for professional event design décor, specialising in creating unforgettable experiences through bespoke build services and an extensive range of rental products for events. EPH Creative is looking to recruit a WordPress Web Designer to join our project team focused on dramatically improving our company website. This role involves designing intuitive and engaging user interfaces within WordPress, using Elementor, and applying HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and PHP to develop functional design elements. The project team will be led by our Design Director and in-house full stack developer. You will also work closely with our commercial and marketing team to ensure designs meet EPH Creative’s brand standards and marketing goals.

Applicants should have extensive experience in web design, particularly within the WordPress ecosystem, and a solid understanding of UI/UX principles, expertise in responsive web design, and proficiency in design tools such as Elementor and Adobe XD or Figma. A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating past work on e-commerce and user-centric design projects is required.

This position is offered on a fixed-term contract basis for 6 months, designed to support a specific project with potential extensions depending on project requirements and performance. Responsibilities

• Design and deliver intuitive and engaging user interfaces within WordPress using Elementor.
• Apply knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and PHP to develop functional design elements.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure designs are consistent with EPH Creative’s brand identity and strategic goals.
• Iterate on design concepts based on user feedback and analytics, enhancing usability and engagement.
• Lead the design process from concept to implementation, ensuring a seamless transition of designs to the web.
• Help the development team conduct A/B testing for web design and layout optimisation, analysing outcomes to guide further enhancements.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive style guide to ensure consistency in website design elements, aligning with EPH Creative’s brand identity.
• Incorporate interactive design elements and micro-interactions to engage users actively.
• Apply e-commerce design principles to enhance product discoverability and user interaction, enabling customers to effortlessly browse, select, and enquire about products. This includes intuitive navigation, clear product information, and straightforward paths to building a wishlist or making an enquiry.

Skills/attributes required

• Proven experience in web design within the WordPress ecosystem, especially proficient with Elementor and knowledgeable about WooCommerce.
• Strong understanding of UI/UX design principles, capable of creating adaptable designs for both desktop and mobile.
• A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating a wide range of web design work that significantly improved user experience. Examples of past ecommerce web designs relevant to EPH Creative.
• Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and PHP.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities for effective troubleshooting and debugging.
• Strong communication skills for efficient teamwork and cross-departmental collaboration.
• Creative and innovative thinking, with a proactive approach to exploring new technologies and methodologies.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive style guide to ensure consistency in website design elements, aligning with EPH Creative’s brand identity.
• Incorporate interactive design elements and micro-interactions to engage users actively.
• Proficiency in designing user interfaces that cater to e-commerce behaviours, even in non-traditional sales environments. This includes understanding how users search, view, and interact with product listings and information.
• Advanced proficiency in Git or similar version control systems.
• Familiarity with project management tools (YouTrack, Basecamp) and user feedback tools (Hotjar, Marker.io)
